It took 6 months, a couple of meetings at the FIDM library, some cups of coffee here and there and LOTS of e-mails… but San Francisco Fashion Week was such a success. I’m really glad to say that I got to be part of the committee this year. My connection with the San Francisco fashion industry has been furthered because of this opportunity and I can’t wait for many more opportunities like this to come!
My main role on the committee was to do all the graphics. As the visuals assistant, I designed the logo, the flyers and basically did all the branding for SFFW. During all the runway shows, I worked as backstage manager making sure all the models were in order & cueing the choreography. The most exciting part was being in charge of the music! I never saw myself as a music director… especially for runway shows! But, I got some good feedback on the songs :)
And when I found out Nkechi got hired to be in charge of Stylet.ag (they were one of SFFW’s main sponsors), I got even more excited! Here we are backstage on the first night of the runways for the emerging designers.
I guess you can say that the best part about working SFFW was meeting all these amazing people. Along with having Nkechi backstage, Ming, Karyn & Amber were the “wrecking crew” that week! And also Bruce! He’s an amazing male model, but also helped a lot with backstage stuff. We’ve created this little group that basically supports the SF fashion industry…. I’ll flush out more on that later!
There’s so much more about SFFW, but I just wanted to share a little bit for now! Stay tuned for more event re-caps :)
